Why The New “Digital” SAT is a Disaster…And Why You Should Almost Certainly Take The Current Version

Dear Hamilton Families,

Join us for a webinar with Mr. Christopher Hamilton, Founder and CEO of Hamilton Education (and several other educational companies).

College Board plans to introduce a new “digital” SAT in the spring of 2024, designed to be taken online rather than on paper.  But early examples of this new test suggest that–just as with other forms of online learning–it has many bugs and inherent weaknesses to work out.  For instance, the Critical Reading section no longer offers “passages” with multiple questions but rather “paragraphs” with a single question.  Although some may imagine that this format will make the test “easier,” because it is a normative test that places test-takers on a Gaussian or bell curve, the test can’t be “easier” in any meaningful sense–it will simply be different.

There are serious concerns about whether Ivy-level colleges will give much weight to this new test–and many reasons why students planning on taking the SAT should strongly consider taking the current version, rather than the new, likely-to-be-controversial newer version.

In a brief 45-minute webinar I will discuss this new test, and why most 10th and 11th graders–and even some 9th graders–should consider taking the current version.

This event is complimentary, but registration is required.

Please feel free to submit any questions you would like Mr. Hamilton to answer by replying to this email.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, May 18th at 6:00pm.

Sincerely,
Mr. Hamilton and The Hamilton Team
