Amanda Schumaker

Amanda is a reading, writing, and history tutor and editing partner at Hamilton College Consulting. She is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from Miami University (Ohio) with a B.A. in journalism and history. As an undergraduate, Amanda worked as an editor for three campus publications and a reporter for two local newspapers. She was also a teaching assistant for introductory journalism courses, giving her the opportunity to work individually with students, many of whom had their work published locally. Amanda is currently completing her M.A. in history at San Diego State University. She is the recipient of multiple grants supporting her research on women’s political activism during the Cold War, which she has presented at conferences across the country. Amanda is a teaching assistant at SDSU for American and world history courses, specifically focused on improving students’ writing and critical thinking skills. Amanda is extremely passionate about writing and history and is very excited to work with young adults to achieve their academic goals. In her spare time Amanda enjoys rehearsing for James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke, kickboxing, and cheering for the Cincinnati Reds.
