Brenda grew up in San Diego and received her BA from Harvard University in 2012 and her MD from the Keck School of Medicine of USC in 2019. In college, she majored in Neurobiology, won awards for her work in technical theater, and received grants to conduct immunotherapy research and implement public health initiatives in Mexico and Peru. In medical school, she conducted research in the fields of trauma surgery and thoracic foregut surgery and was elected to the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She is currently a general surgery resident in Boston.
