Originally from San Bernardino, Steven graduated from UC San Diego with a degree in Computer Science. His passion for teaching began in high school, where he first tutored English. At UCSD, he went on to tutor three different Computer Science courses, eventually serving as a Lead Tutor who mentored new tutors and helped guide their transition into teaching roles.

Steven finds the most rewarding part of tutoring is watching students grow — especially when they overcome concepts they once struggled with. Having once faced academic challenges himself, he believes that persistence and hard work can help any student succeed. His teaching style focuses on building confidence, fostering curiosity, and meeting students where they are. Outside of tutoring, Steven enjoys experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, learning new skills, staying active, and dancing.
