In-Person Tutoring (in San Diego)

Why receive in-person tutoring?

Target classes prepare 10th-12th grade students for either the SAT or the ACT. These classes are hosted on Saturdays during the school year, allowing students who have busy extracurriculars and demanding course loads the ability to prepare for the test that they prefer.

Real Results

Because of this unique approach, 158 Hamilton students have earned perfect SAT or ACT scores in the past few years, including 35 perfect ACT scores in 2019. A perfect ACT is obtained by only one-tenth of 1% of test-takers across the country. More than 250 Hamilton students scored in the top 1% on either the SAT or ACT, and the vast majority of summer students made significant gains, taking a vital step toward admission to the college of their choice. No other company – in the nation or in the world – has achieved anything like these results in the last year.

And because the H3 program prepares students for all three tests, even our students who found the ACT a better fit did well on the PSAT, the determining factor of the National Merit program. For middle-class students, the National Merit Scholarship (NMSQT) is often the only way to earn money for college. Last year, Hamilton students were offered more than $3 million in merit-based aid, largely because of their strong PSAT scores.

Schedule & Class Structure

Target classes are designed to prepare students for a specific SAT/ACT test date. Classes are held on Saturdays for the 6 weeks leading up to the official test and are offered at our Camel Valley office, our 4S Ranch office, and online. Students are given the choice between morning and afternoon sessions.

Each week, before attending class, students complete a full-length practice test at home or in one of our offices. Class sessions consist of test review, lessons on skills and concepts related to the test, and plenty of practice.

The week of the official test, students are invited to a mid-week, evening review session to have their final questions answered and for a boost of encouragement.

Instructors & Approach

Rather than having one teacher cover the entire test, all of Hamilton Education’s classes are divided by subject area – critical reading, writing, and math – and taught by world-class educators. Classes are taught by experienced instructors who are experts in their subject areas – many have graduate degrees.

Location

We offer in-person classes at multiple sites across San Diego-Canyon Crest Academy, Del Norte High School, our Carmel Valley Office, and our 4S Ranch Office. The same program is also available online for students who are not local, unable to make class, or simply prefer online learning.

It All Starts with a Consultation

Because classes at Hamilton are not “one-size-fits-all,” we request that students and families interested in our courses or services schedule a complimentary 45-minute initial counseling session. There is no charge for this session, and absolutely no pressure to sign up for classes or services.

The initial counseling appointment lets us meet students and learn about their individual academic lives and learning styles. It also helps all of us – students, parents, and Hamilton Education – begin long-term planning to help students reach their goals.

Please be mindful that some classes fill up well before summer; last year some classes were full before the end of February.

Exceed your student’s educational needs and goals.
