Mary has been teaching Art History, English, Humanities, and Creative/Professional/Tech Writing in higher ed for the past 15 years at community colleges, tech/art colleges, and a military education program. She also has 10 years of experience in writing tutoring and 2.5 years in college administration. Mary received her BA in Art History from the University of San Diego in 2002, MA in Art History from San Diego State University in 2005, MA in English from Northern Arizona University in 2011, and Ed.D. in Curriculum, Teaching, Learning, and Leading from Northeastern University in March of 2020. Her dissertation explores the experiences of women student veterans (focusing on identity, belonging, and voice) through writing classes and curriculum in higher education. Mary is a single mother to three amazing kids (ages 7, 12, and 16) and spends most of her time herding these cats to school, activities, and through life. Beyond that, she is an avid reader, cyclist (spin and mountain bike), and lover of physical and intellectual activities that living in San Diego provides.
