Jennifer Sager is thrilled to join the brainy team at Hamilton Education! Jennifer’s background is in rhetoric and writing studies, business communication, literature, theater, film, television, and journalism. The daughter of an Air Force colonel and junior high school teacher, Jennifer moved around the country and attended 9 schools in 12 years. When Jennifer was a senior in high school, she flew out to L.A. and auditioned for USC’s School of Cinema-Television, Division of Drama, Bachelor of Fine Arts program. Jennifer and 29 other students, who also auditioned from around the country, were chosen for the selective program. Jennifer earned her B.F.A. in Drama, with an emphasis in Acting, from USC in 1993. While pursuing her acting career in L.A., Alaska, and New York, and after earning her SAG and Equity cards, Jennifer honed her people skills at restaurants and in retail.
Next, Jennifer pursued her Master of Arts in English at San Diego State University while working as a tutor and teaching associate for the Rhetoric and Writing Studies department, as well as writing stories for local newspapers. Jennifer earned her M.A. in English, with a specialization in American literature, in 2001. She was then immediately hired at SDSU, Grossmont, Cuyamaca, and Palomar to teach RWS, English composition and literature, and Theatre Arts. She also directed stage productions at Palomar, like the rock musical The Who’s Tommy. In the spring of 2020, right before the COVID-19 pandemic, Jennifer returned to the stage when she was cast in the role of Rosie in the ABBA rock musical Mamma Mia! Two of the production’s final performances had to be cancelled, following the governor’s orders, but the experience left Jennifer with lasting memories.
Jennifer resides in the east county with her husband, five children, and cat named Boba Mochi.
