Dillon Kane

by | Aug 1, 2017

Dillon is the oldest of four kids, all of whom grew up in the Poway Unified School District. He, and his siblings, graduated from Westview. He received his BA in Literature from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2014. Dillon remained with PLNU for the following two years to earn his Master of Arts in Teaching, with two credentials. He is credentialed as an education specialist of mild/moderate disabilities and to teach secondary English, with English Language Learner authorization. Dillon has worked with diverse student populations as well as a breadth of subject matter in the classroom. He also has taught a wide-variety of disciplines/skills, such as chess, driving, and wrestling (he was a top wrestler in the county in high school), in addition to his first-love, English. Along with his undergraduate studies at PLNU, his experiences as a student in Advanced Placement (AP) Language and Composition and AP Literature (with Bob McHeffey at Westview) profoundly inspired him to study and teach reading and writing. Dillon is as athletic as he is nerdy and avidly skateboards, surfs, and plays golf. He is best friends with his former academic advisor and current literature/film/Chinese professor James Wicks at PLNU and they regularly skate, surf, and/or play chess together.
